• Tap water is safe in most cities. In rural areas, ask locally.
• Malaria exists in parts of the north-east (including around Kruger): ask a travel clinic.
• Private hospitals are very good but expensive: travel insurance is strongly recommended.
• The sun is strong: hat and sunscreen.
