Eco-friendly travel

• Tap water is safe: bring a refillable bottle, and ask for "une carafe d'eau" in restaurants. It's free.
• Take the train: high-speed TGV lines link the big cities, and some short domestic flights are banned when a train does the trip in under 2h30.
• Use shared bikes (Vélib' in Paris, and bike schemes in most big cities).
• Sort your waste: in most towns, the yellow bin is for packaging.
• Shop at local markets: seasonal food, less packaging.
• Stay on marked trails in national parks and don't pick plants.
