• A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required if you arrive from a country at risk: check the official rules.
• See a travel clinic 4 to 6 weeks before you leave: some vaccines are often recommended.
• Malaria exists in some areas: ask a travel clinic about prevention.
• Don't drink tap water: drink bottled or filtered water, and avoid ice of unknown origin.
• Rabies exists: avoid stray dogs, cats and monkeys. If bitten or scratched, see a doctor the same day.
• Medical care is limited: travel insurance with medical evacuation is strongly recommended.
