Travelling with pets
- New Caledonia is rabies-free and very strict: import permit, rabies antibody test and quarantine on arrival.
- "Category 1" attack dogs (pit bull types without a pedigree) are banned under French law.
- Airlines have their own rules (cabin pets usually under about 8 kg with the bag, snub-nosed breeds often refused in the hold): book your pet's place early.
- Heat can be dangerous for pets: avoid walks in the middle of the day, and never leave them in a car.
- Check the rules to come back home too: they can be stricter than for leaving.
These rules change and depend on your situation: always check with the official sources and your embassy before you leave. GoZzzy gives general information and cannot be held responsible.
