Respect & manners

• Apply for your visa only on the official e-visa website. Zanzibar may ask for a specific travel insurance: check before you go.
• Plastic bags are banned: don't bring any.
• Dress modestly in Zanzibar and towns: shoulders and knees covered.
• During Ramadan, avoid eating, drinking or smoking in public during the day.
• Ask before taking photos of people, especially Maasai communities.
• Tipping: guides, drivers and porters expect a tip.
