Respect & manners

• Laws are strict: public drunkenness, drugs and offensive gestures or words (including online) are punished.
• Alcohol only in licensed hotels, bars and restaurants.
• Dress modestly in malls, souks and public places; swimwear only at the beach or pool.
• Never photograph people without permission, nor government buildings.
• Public displays of affection are frowned upon.
• During Ramadan, avoid eating, drinking or smoking in public during the day.
