Tap water is generally safe to drink. In Rome, the public fountains (nasoni) give free drinking water.
Pharmacies (green cross) give good advice for small health issues.
EU travellers: bring your European Health Insurance Card. Others: travel insurance is strongly recommended.
Summer heat waves are frequent: drink often and avoid the midday sun.
