Travelling with pets
- EU rules: your pet needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel, and an EU pet passport (or an EU animal health certificate if you come from outside the EU).
- Coming from outside the EU, a rabies antibody blood test may be needed months before the trip, depending on the country.
- You can bring up to 5 pets; more counts as a commercial move with other rules.
- Dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet 1 to 5 days (24 to 120 hours) before arrival.
- Some countries ban or restrict "dangerous" dog breeds: check before you go.
- Airlines have their own rules (cabin pets usually under about 8 kg with the bag, snub-nosed breeds often refused in the hold): book your pet's place early.
- Check the rules to come back home too: they can be stricter than for leaving.
These rules change and depend on your situation: always check with the official sources and your embassy before you leave. GoZzzy gives general information and cannot be held responsible.
