Travelling with pets

  • Your pet needs a microchip, a rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel, and a pet passport or animal health certificate; it must arrive on an approved route.
  • Dogs need a tapeworm treatment from a vet 1 to 5 days (24 to 120 hours) before arrival.
  • Some dog types are banned in the UK, like the pit bull terrier, Japanese tosa, dogo argentino, fila brasileiro and XL bully.
  • Airlines have their own rules (cabin pets usually under about 8 kg with the bag, snub-nosed breeds often refused in the hold): book your pet's place early.
  • Check the rules to come back home too: they can be stricter than for leaving.

These rules change and depend on your situation: always check with the official sources and your embassy before you leave. GoZzzy gives general information and cannot be held responsible.
