Health & vaccines
- No vaccine is required to enter Japan: just make sure your routine vaccines are up to date.
- Tap water is safe to drink everywhere.
- Medical care is excellent but expensive: travel insurance is strongly recommended.
- Some common medicines are restricted or banned in Japan (for example some cold medicines containing pseudoephedrine, and stimulant ADHD medicines): check the official rules before you pack.
- Summers are very hot and humid: drink often and watch out for heatstroke.
