• Use reef-safe sunscreen: it is required in some cenotes and marine parks.
• Swim in cenotes only where allowed, and shower before entering.
• Never touch coral or turtles, and keep your distance from whale sharks.
• Buy crafts directly from artisans.
• Avoid single-use plastic: many states ban plastic bags and straws.
