Health & vaccines

  • A yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required if you arrive from a country at risk: check the official rules.
  • See a travel clinic 4 to 6 weeks before you leave: some vaccines are often recommended.
  • Don't drink tap water: drink bottled or filtered water, and avoid ice of unknown origin.
  • Eat freshly cooked hot food, and peel your fruit.
  • Dengue is common and malaria exists in some areas: use mosquito repellent and ask a travel clinic.
  • Rabies exists: avoid stray dogs and monkeys.
  • Air pollution can be very high in the north in winter: check the air quality.
  • Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
